Emma Thompson is a visual communication designer from the United States.

She is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, with a BFA in Communication Design and a minor in marketing. Throughout her educational journey she has been able to learn about a wide variety of topics not just centered on the arts and liberal arts, but also on the more practical matters of business and marketing.

Her brain is a sponge, constantly desiring to soak up new information. As an avid consumer of culture, she believes that the culture around us shapes our experiences and she wants to utilize culture in order to create spaces, events, designs and experiences that people want to share, engage and interact with. She hopes that her creations can create effective emotional impacts on their participants.

She is most interested in collaborative storytelling and participatory design work. The collaboration between the author and viewer in shaping an experience fascinates her. The best stories paint a picture. They allow your audience to visualize what you are say- ing, but also leave room for some personal reflection and interpretation for the viewer.

In order to better learn how stories and spaces join together to create engaging hu- man experiences, she is currently studying MA Narrative Environments at Central Saint Martins in London. In the future she plans to work at the intersections of technology, architecture, storytelling and design.
