MA Narrative Environments

People / Students / Vy Tran

Vy Tran is an artist and a wanderer. Her works mostly use photography and performance as a medium, employing visuals to reflect her and others’ essence. She behaves as both actor and observer, attempting to reveal and connect the haze defining the mind and our patterns. Growing up as a constant outsider has influenced Vy’s direction. Born and raised in Belgium in a Vietnamese family, she first graduated from engineering to eventually write her thesis at the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven, Netherlands, and work there as a design engineer. She then completed a foundation year in Art and Design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam before leaving for Central Saint Martins. Her latest series, “Reflection/Contemplation”, explores the themes of inattention and naivete.
